Applications For Success

If you are going to university, then you most likely have a laptop. Hardly anyone does work in spiral bound notebooks and binders anymore because that is just too much to carry around and campuses are turning much more digital. It is still possible to take old-school notes, but those who do are dwindling in numbers. That makes it vital for you to know how to get the most out of your laptop so that you can be organized and prepared for everything. Here are some categories and examples of applications for college that you can use to keep you on top of your class. The examples of applications are for Apple brand things, but for each laptop you can find a similar program to use or an online version of the app.

Organization. Being organized is crucial to your success anywhere, but especially at college. It is important to learn the skills it takes to be organized as soon as you can because they are what you will need in just about every activity you do. There are plenty of to-do list things out there. iProcrastinate is one of them, it is a list maker that helps procrastinators to get on top of tasks. One main plus about this app when compared to others is that it has the ability to be synced between your Mac and iPhone and iPad. That way, if you are not next to your laptop, you simply have to pull out your iPhone and you can find the information you are looking for pertaining to those assignments and appointments. Google Chrome has a list app called Do It (Tomorrow). This app is very handy because the only days you have to deal with are today and tomorrow. Whatever you do not get done today automatically is pushed to “tomorrow” so that you can make sure you cross it off and do it.

Note-taking. This is one of the hardest things to do without a notebook. While you could just make a whole bunch of different documents for each class or each course, there is an easier way to do it. Evernote is an application that allows you to create different “notebooks” for each course and take separate notes for each class. You can create certain tags for each note that way you can retrieve it easily and title the post so that you know what the lecture was about. This has proved to be indispensable for many a college student. There are other apps, such as Journler that people have also loved. You just have to find the one that fits your learning style.

Whatever you do, make sure that it works for you. When you are out of high school, no one cares what you do. No one will be there to make sure that you are getting your work done, so it is up to you to keep that 3.9 GPA. You can do that either the old school way, or you can do it the upgraded way. Stay knowledgable and you will be able to rise to the top of your class and then the top of your company.
